Is hell season 2 has been confirmed?

At the time of writing, Hellbound Season 2 has not been confirmed by Climax Studios (the production company behind the series) or Netflix.

While fans shouldn’t be too concerned by the lack of official information, the streaming giant makes a habit of waiting several weeks before making any sort of announcement on the renewal. The good news is that Season 2 is definitely set off by the dramatic finale in Episode 6.

When Min Hee-jin escapes the New Truth with the child, it appears that the main narrative will wrap itself with the world finding out that the decree can be granted without any ‘original sin’.

Yet, as we return to Park Jung-ja’s home, the screen goes black, the location of the livestream performance before episode three. Smoke and dust once again fill the room as Mrs. Park’s charred remains begin to regenerate… she wakes up naked on the floor, seemingly having returned from hell.

So, the story in Hellbound is set up to continue into a second season, but as with all Netflix original titles, any renewal depends entirely on how many people watch the series.

Hellbound season 1 rating

Unfortunately, Netflix doesn’t publicly release its official viewership for original titles, which makes it difficult to estimate how popular a particular show or movie is on the platform.

However, the platform does reveal weekly scores for their titles, led by their new top 10 website. Here, Netflix reveals that the Korean series ranked among the top 10 series of the week, and has been watched by users for over 43,480,000 hours!

Hellbound is also scoring highly on various user-based feedback websites, including 6.8/10 on IMDB, 7.6/10 on MyDramaList, and an impressive 78% on both AsianWiki and Rotten Tomatoes.

“I started thinking of watching just one episode and maybe left the rest for later. Instead, I ended up binge-watching the entire series. The story, suspense and gimmicks are amusing and will leave you numb at times. Still, it’s a great series and can’t wait for S2.” – user ‘tejjosef’ via IMDB.

There are also favorable reviews from critics, with Digital Spy giving Hellbound Season 1 a solid 4/5 stars, arguing that there is “more ground to cover” if Netflix decides to continue production. .

A similar opinion is echoed by Desider, who says that despite the “slow and unconvincing” opening, Hellbound “sets up an interesting story that can go almost anywhere.”

So, assuming Hellbound is watched by enough households and renewed for Season 2, when might the Korean drama return to Netflix?

Hellbound season 2: Possible release date…

As Hellbound Season 2 hasn’t been officially confirmed, the targeted release date hasn’t been shared by Netflix or listeners. However, we can make some predictions based on the production timeline for the first installment.

The series was first announced in April 2020, with many of the cast confirmed at the end of July.

While the series is an adaptation of a popular webtoon, the Netflix show takes some liberties and adds in countless scenes for extra context.

This means that the problem with predicting a possible release date for Season 2 is that we don’t know if the production team has already drafted a story for the next chapter in the Hellbound story.

Assuming that Netflix will give a green signal to Season 2 and that work on a possible story may begin in the next few months, fans can watch Hellbound return to Netflix by October 2022.

This article will be updated as soon as official sources share more details about Hellbound Season 2.
