“Somebody’s Son” Tiwa Savage Is Trying To stick.
The 41-year-old Afrobeats singer revealed in an interview with Angie Martinez on Power 105.1 on Thursday that she is the victim of a typical blackmailer.
The Nigerian superstar explained that his partner had accidentally posted a rather salty video on Snapchat and promptly deleted it – but not before anyone was able to record a copy of the snippet. His team then received videos from stalkers demanding cash payment for his silence.
“There is a dark side to being in the limelight,” said Savage, recalling the events that happened the day before. “I wouldn’t call it a sex tape, but it’s a tape of me and the person I’m dating right now.”
Savage told Martinez that she wanted to control the narrative because she had no intention of paying the blackmailer. “I pay it for two more months now, you’re going to come back again, and again in two years,” Universal Music Group Signi said. “And who knows? Even if I send you the money, you’ll probably release it anyway.”
Savage, who was featured in Beyoncé’s “The Lion King: The Gift” with Mr. Izzy in “Keys to the Kingdom”, eventually decided she was not ready to gift her stalker with any cash. Is. “I’m not going to allow anyone to blackmail me into doing something that’s natural,” she said. “That’s what’s making me even more angry, like, ‘No, you’re not going to do this to me. If you want to put it out there – I’m that crazy, I can make it out myself. Not making money. It’s an intimate moment with someone I’m dating.'”
She continued: “We’re trying to stop them, so I’m just going to get ahead of it, own my narrative and own it,” she said. “Cause I’m not ashamed of it. This is who I’m dating, I ain’t cheating, he ain’t cheating, we’re all grown up… you’re gonna freak it out, me Sure. And for me, it’s like, why now? Like, when the music is so good and I don’t want it to affect what I’m doing.”
Savage’s first album to be distributed by the American label “Celia” was released on August 28, 2020 and is her fourth full-length album.
