Facebook and Instagram suffered a wave of outages for the second time on Friday afternoon – just days after all services were shut down for hours on Monday.
According to DownDetector, more than 32,000 Instagram users reported being unable to use the app between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday. About 2,300 Facebook users also reported problems during the same period. WhatsApp appeared relatively unaffected, with only 109 reports.
Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were shut down globally for more than six hours on Monday, wiping out more than $50 million from the market capitalization of Facebook, which owns all three services, it reported Friday.
Facebook attributed Monday’s issue to a self-inflicted server issue — not an external hack.
