Police said Thursday that a Queens man hatched a bird-minded plan to evade arrest for assault – by shackling a tree and refusing to come down for more than 24 hours.
Police were called to a home on 145th Avenue in Jamaica at 2 p.m. Wednesday on reports of an attack on a woman – but when they appeared, the 44-year-old suspect climbed onto the roof, police said.
From there, he climbed a tree – and according to police, has been chilling there ever since.
NYPD hostage negotiators were outside the home Thursday afternoon – but the long arm of the law has yet to reach him.
According to the police, the man is clearly trying to negotiate for his freedom.
If he comes down, he will be arrested for the attack, the police confirmed.
