According to reports, a plane crashed in a neighborhood near a California high school, bursting into flames and destroying at least two homes.
Witnesses said they heard a loud boom when the plane hit homes and exploded in the town of Santi in the afternoon.
“Yeah, we just heard a deafening crash and I saw this huge fireball,” A Twitter user wrote.
“The fire department is on the way;” Witness paired with a photo of large flames and black smoke from a garage at a nearby residence on North Magnolia Avenue. “I’m praying no one was inside but no one knows for sure.”
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office said on its social media page that people were advised to avoid the area as the crew responded.
According to Fox 5 San Diego, at least two people were taken to the hospital.
According to NBC 7 San Diego, at least one building appears to have been completely destroyed.
No children were injured at nearby Santana High School, the school said on social media.
“All students are safe,” the post said. “There was a plane crash two or three blocks away. We are currently in a ‘secure campus’.”
There is no information on how many people were on board the plane or how many people may be in the affected homes.
