A US Postal Service employee pointed a gun at himself after shooting two coworkers at a Memphis mail facility on Tuesday, the FBI said.
According to WREG, the stampede occurred at the East Lamar Carrier Annex, a sorting facility in a residential neighborhood that does not serve customers.
Federal law enforcement officials did not reveal the identities of the victims or suspects and were looking for a motive.
Family members present at the scene said the facility’s manager, James Wilson, was one of the workers who was shot and killed, the station said.
“The Postal Service is saddened by the events in Memphis today,” the USPS said in a statement.
“Our thoughts are with the family members, friends and colleagues of the individuals involved. The Postal Service will provide resources to all employees at the East Lamar Carrier Annex in the coming days and weeks.
The attack occurred after a teenager killed eight people and injured several others at an Indianapolis FedEx facility before taking his own life. Authorities found that the former employee was able to purchase firearms despite having previously been in custody for a mental health incident.
